Bali Escapades

What do you need after a loads of works and pitches that take away even your weekends?

Yup, a well deserving break at a refreshing place.
And is there any better place than Bali?

Right, don't tell me about the recent bombings and the fact that Bali as a holiday destination is so basi (some of my friends have already turned to other holiday destination like Lombok or Bunaken). During the 6 days stay - 3 days training with the office and 3 days holidays - I still find Bali enchanting.

To begin with, we arrived in Bali at 00:30 on 17th February 2006, all weary and sleepy. By the time we catch the sight of the hotel's signboard, our hearts sink to the stomach (is this some kind of bed and breakfast?). But as soon as we step inside... voila! Our mood is suddenly lifted up at the sight of the contemporary design with an ethnic touch and the offer of a homey ambience. According to a taxi driver in Bali, the Oasis Kuta has been one of the most favored hotel destination recently.

I woke up the next day to a bright and sunny morning, greeted by the waving of the palm tree outside the balcony and a yummy American breakfast buffet at the half-open lobby resto. A very refreshing way to start a day of full packed training, which was closed by dinner at the marvellous Ma Joly.

It used to be the home where our Balinese born GM was raised, beautifully lined by the Tuban beach. Before it was turned to a boutique hotel housing 12 suite rooms and a posh restaurant with a breathtaking view of the beach.

For 2 consecutive nights we manage to check out cool places to chill out. The Ku De Ta and Hu'u at jalan Peti Tenget, Seminyak.

And of course, the most favored seafood eating place at Jimbaran.

But, my best of the best spot in this trip is the Dreamland at Pecatu.

What could be more beautiful than sunset in Dreamland

Alas, as all good things have to last, so there comes our final day of traning in Bali. That last Saturday afternoon, before all my colleagues depart to Jakarta, some of us had our lunch in Warung Babi Guling Candra at jalan Teuku Umar (oops, this is strictly only for pork lovers)

But, as I waved goodbye to the leaving bus in the evening, my heart throbs with another excitement. Three more days exploring Bali with my beloved. Here I come Ubud, Uluwatu, Seminyak, and Kuta....
